
Finally after 33 days of hunger strike by the Kurdish political prisoners of Urumia prison and a wave of both domestic and international solidarity and support for the hunger striking political prisoners, the Mullahs’ regime was force to surrender to their demands. In a statement published on internet they said: “We, the political prisoners in Urumia prison started our hunger strike 33 days ago aimed at ending the brutality and pressures of the Islamic Republic against our stated demands. As a result of this protest, the Islamic Republic authorities negotiated with us and in order to comply with our demand, transferred about 40 prisoners of common criminal cases out of our ward and returned 13 other political prisoners who were previously transferred to other sections of the prison, back to our ward no. 12. They also said if we end our hunger strike they would comply with our other demands. Therefore we decided to end our hunger strike.”
In their statement, the hunger striking pol. Prisoners also expressed gratitude and appreciations at the Kurdish people of Kurdistan in which with their support rallied to the defense of these political prisoners.
