Ashrafi hostages must be released immediately, demands MEP

INTV, 30 Sep 2013 – Member of European Parliament Søren Bo Søndergaard of the Confederal Group of the European United Left – Nordic Green Left said the seven Ashrafi hostages must be released immediately.
Below is the text of his recent message:
“Here in the European Parliament we have received the news about the attack on Camp Ashraf and the killings of 52 people. We have received that message with a shock. This is absolutely unacceptable and of course we will do everything we can to raise this question in order to get a total, impartial and independent investigation to find out who has the responsibility for this atrocity.
Of course in this situation our thoughts go to the seven women and men hijacked from Camp Ashraf, now imprisoned somewhere. This is also absolutely unacceptable that people can be hijacked in that way, taken away from their loved ones and brought to prison for doing nothing. We demand very clearly that these people are released immediately so they can join their fellow people in Camp Liberty. We think that it is absolutely unacceptable what has happened, and we therefore totally understand that many Iranians around have engaged in a hunger strike in order to get their loved ones back.
In Camp Liberty, we also have to insist that there security is implemented. This kind of attack we have seen, how can that happen without people there being protected? It’s clear the Iraqi forces don’t want to protect the people.
Let me say it again. We will do what we can here in the European Parliament to demand the immediate release of the seven hostages.
