An organized movement in Lebanon first began protesting poor service conditions and the municipality’s failure in gathering up trash piling up in the streets of Beirut, CNN reported on Sunday, August 23rd. However, this movement has grown significantly recently and turned into the largest demonstrations seen in years in Lebanon.
“We are against sectarianism, corruption and unemployment,” a protester said.
Around four to five thousand people took part in Sunday’s rally, being much larger than the demonstration staged on Saturday.
