Iran: female prisoner in need of urgent medical care

Political prisoner Sedighe Moradi is suffering from a torn meniscus and tendons in her leg while she has been detained in the women’s ward of Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison. Considering her illness she needs to be sent to a hospital.
The husband of this political prisoner has said she needs a letter to be sent to the prison permitting her transfer to a hospital. However, no such letter is being provided, he said.
Moradi has been deprived of any leave during the past 4 years and her illnesses have increased during this period behind bars. She was arrested on May 1, 2011 and transferred to ward 209 of Evin Prison. She was sentenced to ten years in jail on charges of “moharebe” (enmity against God) and relations with a dissident group.
