Saleh Mutlaq: was it not because the Iranian regime’s meddling, we would have established government long ago

Asharqia TV – June 27, 2010 – Senior Iraqiya leader Dr. Saleh Mutlaq said in an interview with Asharqia TV: “If it was not because of the Iranian regime’s meddling, we would have established the new government much long ago.”
Q: Is it true that it is said the Iranian regime has vetoed Iraqiya’s right to form government?
Dr. Saleh Mutlaq: Yes. The Iranian regime has vetoed Iraqiya’s right to form government.
Q: Why?
Dr. Saleh Mutlaq: Because it intends not to allow Iraq’s national plan to rule. Anyone who thinks this issue has to do with Ayad Allawi, is misleading and thinking that the Iranian regime does not want Ayad Allawi or anybody else is wrong; rather, the Iranian regime does not want the national plan to gain the leadership of the country. If the national plan takes the leadership of the country, it will expand in the next phase and will govern Iraq in a nationalistic method, something the Iranian regime doesn’t want. The Iranian regime desires Iraq to be run by Shiite, Sunni and Kurdish fraction and according to this plan that they have orchestrated, Iraq can be kept weak, being exactly what Iranian regime politicians want. There is no possibility for Iraq to be strong unless ruled under a national plan, and today this plan has developed from 11 seats in the 2005 elections to 91 seats in the recent polls. This will continue and in the next elections this movement will definitely gain more seats and complete control will take place in managing the country in a national and professional process. The country will be managed by professionals and not individuals assigned by rationing the official posts. The Iranian regime is against this and is looking for us to go back to the drawing board, the rationing of Shiites and Sunnis and Kurds. As a result of this method these sectors of society will not be entitled their rights and the cities of Al-Imara, Najaf and Nasseriya will remain as they are now. Iraqis have reached a point these days that they don’t have even one hour of electricity. In Diyala, restaurants are asked to be closed due to contaminated water. On what accounts do they want to stay in power?
