Demonstration in Iraq, police open fire on protesters

Hundreds of Iraqi residents of Iraq’s Qadisiya Province staged a rally clashing with police forces in protest to lack of services and corruption, al-Baghdadie TV reported.
This demonstration took place in the town of Hamza located near the city of Diwaniya (provincial capital of Qadisiya).
The protesters called for the removal of the governor, all supervisors of education, water, electricity services and the mayor of Hamze. The demonstrators also demanded abolition of high electricity fees that have brought growing pressure on the people to be decreased.
Although the protesters staged a peaceful rally heading to the town governor’s office, the police opened fire on the demonstration leading to 3 injuries. The protesters in retaliation began throwing rocks at the police.
