
al-Baghdadiya TV reported over 100 Iraqi MPs signed a letter requesting leadership roles in running that country.
MP Safiya al-Sohail said along with a number other female MPs, they have gathered nearly 106 signatures requesting leading posts in the upcoming government. al-Sohail went on to say they have asked the Presidency and the Prime Ministry one post of Vice Presidency and also one post of Deputy Prime Ministry be assigned to women.
al-Sohail added they have demanded from Nouri Maliki and other political leaders that 25% of posts are women’s share. “Any kind of attempts in eliminating the roles of women and not allowing their participation in political decision makings and managing the country will be considered as the failure of the current democratic and political process,” she underscored
