Syrian National Coalition President Hadi al-Bahra warned it is impossible to destroy ISIS until the Bashar Assad dictatorship is in power.
“Military attacks against ISIS alone will not destroy terrorism in the region,” Al-Bahra said in an interview with Al Arabiya TV, adding, “Syrian rebels have the necessary capability to maintain security in the cities after overrunning ISIS from these areas.”
“We very much welcome the global decision to establish an international coalition to resolve the problem of terrorism in the region. However, these measures must be carried out with power and at the necessary level, because Assad and terrorist groups – with ISIS topping the list – are working in coordination with each other and uprooting them without annihilating the other will be impossible. Currently, ISIS is carrying out crimes in Syria with the support of Assad. In the past 7 months each time that we wanted to take measures against ISIS our positions were attacked by Assad airstrikes. We believe that for the international community’s will to bear fruit in destroying terrorism, the Assad regime and ISIS must be annihilated at the same time,” he added.
