Yemen: ceasefire violated

Houthi rebels began launching missiles and rockets into the city of Ta’ez on Saturday, July 11th shortly after a new ceasefire was announced in Yemen. In response Arab coalition fighter jets responded by bombing Houthi positions in the Jebel Jarre region in Ta’ez and their gatherings in Sana’a.
Saudi Defense Minister advisor and Arab coalition military spokesman Ahmed Assiri said the coalition will not abide by any ceasefire that Houthi militants violate.
Houthi rebels will not benefit in violating the ceasefire regulations, Assiri warned in an interview with Al Jazeera.
Prior to the ceasefire we had called on the UN to obtain guarantees from the Houthi rebels that they will not violate the ceasefire and there should be a mechanism to impose this ceasefire, he added. Without these two elements the ceasefire will be threatened and not last long, he continued.
