Iraqi MP Hessam Abdol-Karim of the Iraqiya Coalition rejected Nouri Maliki’s deadline to close Camp Ashraf.
“Camp Ashraf residents are guests of the Iraqi people and Iraqi tribes gathered 1 million and 50 thousand signatures reflecting their unique Arabic nobility and morality in regards to hospitality towards those who have sought refuge amongst them,” Abdol-Karim said.
“The People’s Mojahedin is a non-military organization and has not conducted any action against the Iraqi government or any other government in fact,” he added.
Hessam Abdol-Karim called on the Iraqi government to not succumb to Iranian regime pressures to forcefully expel or massacre Ashraf residents. Abdol-Karim urged the Iraqi Parliament and United Nations to intervene in this complex issue.
