Iran: 60 workers of Mehr Construction Company are laid off

The construction factory, “Nima sazeh Goastar” which is a contractor for “Mehr Housing Company” in the town of Sannandaj and has not paid its employees’ salaries for past 2 months decided to shut down the factory for lack of funds while discharging these 60 workers.
These workers were discharged on Dec. 22nd, but as the workers showed dissatisfaction, the project contractor who was supposed to build 1700 unit-houses, promised that they restart the project on Dec. 27th. According to the protesting employees, it has been 10 days since they were discharged but the factory is still closed and the “Mehr Housing” project contractor has not done anything to remedy this problem.
The employees who have not received their backed up wages, each have more than 3 to 5 years of experience and background in this job in the factory.
The factory workers are deprived of their rights and bonuses (including children expense, rations and clothing and shoes expenses). This condition has made them work as contracting workers.
