A member of Iran’s so-called parliament from the city of Zabol, southeastern Iran, said intense sandstorms in Sistan & Baluchistan Province are due to Lake Hamoon drying up and the back-to-back droughts that have resulted from the mullahs’ destructive policies.
“Lake Hamoon drying up and 120 days of intense winds in this province have led to the rise of the sand from the base of this lake, spread into the air and increasing air pollution. Prior to thinking of trying to provide water for this lake we must find a solution for all the sources of these sandstorms,” he said.
He reminded the resulting damages from these sandstorms and said, “Unfortunately, the sandstorms have led literally engulfed many villages in this province, and locals have migrated to different areas. On the other hands many damages have been imposed on commuting and also numerous illnesses have increased, including eye and lung problems.”
Water sources drying up across Iran are all due to the plundering policies adopted by the Iranian regime.

Sudden & shocking rise in cancer numbers in Tehran
Tabnak website, belonging to former Revolutionary Guards commander Mohsen Rezaie, reported on 11 June 2011 citing a piece from state-run KhabarOnline.com: Sandstorms, fossil fuel, household and industrial residue, along with microwaves have caused a severe increase in the spread of cancer.
They say air pollution is to blame, and that sandstorms and rising air pollution in major cities are behind the sudden escalating number of cancer cases. Now a state official says this air pollution has resulted in a sudden rise in cancer cases, despite the fact that he, too, doesn’t provide accurate numbers on this increase in cancer.
Wilderness areas increasing
These unpopular policies have caused severe damages to the people economically, their living conditions and health. The rate of soil attrition in the country has reached 16 tons for every hectare. Iran under the mullahs ranks amongst the leading countries in destroying natural systems.
The mullahs’ so-called economic activities that are destructive, without taking into consideration any environmental standards, have caused 7 million hectares of land to turn into wilderness and centers of crises. This has forced local villagers to migrate to other areas.
“According to an investigation conducted by the forest organization, confirmed by college centers, each year 1% of Iran’s land turns into wilderness lands,” said head of wilderness management in Isfahan Province.
Air pollution in Khuzestan Province; 22,000 people hospitalized every year
The state has taken no significant step to confront sandstorms that have forced 22,000 people be hospitalized each year, according to so-called parliament member Javad Sa’doon. Sandstorms impose intense pressure on people and the agriculture and electricity industry. “Sandstorms have caused major breathing problem for the province residents,” he said. “One of the consequences of sandstorms is droughts each year, which have led to an increase in air pollution and collecting sandstorms even from neighboring countries.
“In recent years many sandstorms have entered our country from neighboring states, especially into Khuzestan Province, which cause major problems for the people and they are forced into hospitals,” he added.
