Iran makes no mention of halting nuclear activities: France

AFP, July 8, 2008 (excerpts) – Iran does not say it intends to suspend sensitive nuclear activities in its written response to an offer to end the international standoff over its suspect atomic programme, the French foreign ministry said Tuesday.
The fact that there is no mention of suspending sensitive activities is clearly an issue,” said foreign ministry spokesman Eric Chevallier.
Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner met with Iran’s ambassador in Paris on Monday and stated that Tehran’s failure to address the key demand “was something that did not correspond to what we wanted.”
