Officials in Fars Province of Iran are warning of grounds sinking in Marvdasht Valley where historic remains are located, describing it as “critical” and “concerning”.
In the past few years grounds have been sinking in “many areas across Iran”, including grounds around the Takht-e Jamshid ancient remains, officials say. This phenomenon is resulting from constant droughts and unmanaged water extraction from underwater sources.
