
Radio Farda website, 9 October 2010 – Marking International Kids Day on October 8, the state-run ILNA reported: “It has been 17 years since Iran joined the International Convention of Children’s Rights. However, less than 15% of kids, and their families, are familiar with this law.”
According to this report, over 50% of Iranian parents view as their right to physically punish their children, and 30% of children ranging from 1 to 5 years of age are subject to sexual abuse.
This report continues that this year alone, around 300,000 children are left out of school and Iran has 1.4 million working kids in its workforce.
