Lebanese official: Interpol issued international alerts against 4 indicted in Hariri’s murder

The Washington Post, AP, Beirut, 9 July 2011 – A senior Lebanese security official says Interpol has issued international alerts against four Hezbollah men indicted in the 2005 assassination of Lebanon’s former prime minister Rafik Hariri .
The official, who requested anonymity citing regulations, says the red notices were issued on Saturday at the request of the Netherlands-based Special Tribunal for Lebanon.
The Iranian-backed Shiite guerrilla group denies the men’s involvement and says they won’t be handed over.
Hezbollah dominates Lebanon’s government and has thousands of guerrilla fighters, making it unlikely that authorities will be willing or able detain the men.
Officials at the tribunal and the Interpol could not be immediately reached for comment.
