Syria today, Iran tomorrow

‘Syria today, Iran tomorrow’ is the title of an Asharq Al-Awsat daily article written by the editor in chief. Referring to Ahmadinejad’s remarks, this article writes: “He understands very well the overthrow of Bashar Assad’s regime is tantamount to the Iranian regime’s foreign hands being cut off, and this means the failure of the regime’s hand holds from Khomeini’s period. The Tehran regime went behind the sectarian regime in Syria, from Hafez Assad’s rule to the era of his son, Bashar Assad. The Syrian government has assisted the regime ruling Iran, either by influencing Arab issues or by causing divides in the region and hiring agents.”
Asharq Al-Awsat added: “The overthrow of Assad’s regime means the Iranian regime will be rejected into itself to face the demands that have been delayed, and this is a matter that frightens Tehran’s mullahs and Ahmadinejad. It is here that we reiterate, ‘Syria today, Iran tomorrow’ and this is in the horizon.”
