
Asu Rostami, an imprisoned civil activist in ward 8 of Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison has got 7 years behind bars just for insulting the Supreme Leader. He has been under severe pressures in the prison causing numerous illness for him. He has been transferred to a hospital outside Evin prison for treatment of bleeding lung and infection. This 28-year old rights advocate has been suffering major repertory problems and bloody sputum since mid-June.
Rostami was arrested on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 after participating in a rally outside the UN office along with a number of civil activists. He was transferred to Evin’s ward 8 after enduring time in solitary confinement under interrogation.
He was sentenced to 7 years behind bars for protesting and insulting the Supreme leader. Among charges slapped on him are propaganda against the system, and national security issue.
