In an interview with Fox News, John Bolton, former US representative to the UN, stressed on the necessity of imposing harsher sanctions on the Iranian regime.
Bolton attacked some of the European countries’ appeasement policy and said:” In many European countries like Germany, Spain, Italy many of our friends want the priceless sanctions. They intend to say they are doing something without cutting their economic ties with Tehran and as long as they don’t want to take serous steps the Iranian regime continues its path.
John Bolton referred to different options regarding the Iranian regime and said: I don’t think anybody believes using military force against Iran’s nuclear program is an acceptable course of action; this is clearly the ultimate option and adopting that decision has high risk, but the point is to choose between bad and worse; between Iran with nuclear weapon and possible use of military force to prevent it, one has to be chosen. I think in order to prevent this issue continuing diplomatic process will give Iran more time, more time for effective continuance of making its nuclear program and to advance its ballistic missile program in order to accomplish these two programs. That is why I think instead of following another resolution in the UN Security Council, what we need is to work with Europe, Japan and others and make them prepared for more serious options; either the regime change in Tehran or as a final option to use military force against Iran’s nuclear program.
