More than 160 of ’Gilana’ tile co. workers in the city of Manjil, northern Iran, continued their 20-day long strike refraining from going back to work. The protest gathering which took place outside Manjil’s labor office to demand payment of the accumulated unpaid wages and benefits was the extension of a general strike by Gilana factory workers which has started more than 20 days ago.
A factory worker told ILNA official news agency that more than 30 people took part at this demonstration which lasted more than one hour and was ended after the labor ministry authorities promised the employees an executive reshuffle. The protesting workers then agreed to go back to the company and just continue their strike.
