In a declaration to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton, 118 Palestinian institutions, unions and associations along with over 500 political-legal-human rights dignitaries condemned the April 8th attack by carried out by Maliki’s forces against the defenseless Camp Ashraf residents. This attack took place in cooperation with the terrorist Quds Force and led to the death of 36 Ashraf residents with hundreds of others wounded.
In their declaration, these Palestinian entities and dignitaries went on to demand the prosecution of the perpetrators and elements responsible for ‘crimes against humanity’ in Ashraf during the April 8th attack. They also demanded Ashraf residents’ belongings and property to be returned and expressed their support for the Europeanplan for Ashraf. The signatories also called for all Iraqi armed forces to evacuate Ashraf’s perimeters, the 30 month long siege on the camp to be lifted and security and protection guarantees be provided for Ashraf residents who are considered ‘protected persons’ under the Fourth Geneva Convention.
