UNSC strongly condemns the beheading of the British aid worker

AFP – O4 Oct. 2014 – The United Nations Security Council strongly condemned the killing of British humanitarian aid worker Alan Henning by the group, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), as “heinous and cowardly.”
Video purportedly showing an ISIL fighter beheading Mr. Henning surfaced earlier today, spurring the Security Council to issue a late evening statement.
The 15-members of the Council again stressed that ISIL “must be defeated and that the intolerance, violence and hatred it espouses must be stamped out.”
The Council “stressed that those responsible for the killing of Alan Henning shall be held accountable,” and urged Member States to cooperate with the United Kingdom and all relevant authorities in this regard.
