Former US ambassador to Iraq James Jeffrey warned Maliki’s policies provoke sectarian war and such methods must change, Al Jazeera TV reported.
It is not ordinary for us to hear public criticism against the Iraqi prime minister, but we do this when we have concerning issues with them, he said.
We are not happy with their decisions. In this important and decisive phase, considering the developments in Anbar Province and Mosul, if Maliki doesn’t reach an agreement with the Sunnis he can lead Iraq into a sectarian war, Jeffrey continued.
If Maliki uses heavy weapons, especially against Fallujah, all of the people will be angry, he added.
