Paulo Casaca, Member of the European Parliament and the Co-Chair of the Friends of a Free Iran released a statement and congratulated the support of the French National Assembly majority of the PMOI’s goals and wrote: This declaration asked for a democratic change in Iran and has challenged keeping the main Iranian opposition in the EU terrorist list.

Casaca expressed sorrow of the unjustifiable behavior of the EU Ministers of Agriculture and Fishing who decided that the PMOI be kept in the EU list and announced: Considering the recent decision of Britain’s both Houses, which following the decisive verdict of the British Appeal Court calling the decision perverse removed the PMOI from the British proscribed list, this decision of the European Union is absolutely unjustifiable.

The EU had put the PMOI in the terrorist list upon the request of Britain and this decision was annulled by the European Court of Justice in December 12, 2006, but the Council of Ministers defied it.
