Iran; widespread protest reported from across the country

Western provinces of Iran has been the scene of spontaneous and widespread protests during past few days. The mainly Iranian students and workers have been demonstrating to demand their rights.


In Ilam, western Iran – A group of senior year students from the University of Bakhtar on Saturday held a protest on campus after they were prevented from attending an examination session on the guise of failing to pay their university fares.


 


In Sanandaj, western Iran – A group of contract workers from the Municipality’s Office of Industries and Mines on Saturday protested outside the office to demand their overdue wages. The workers are owed six months of back pay for working overtime.


 


Again in Sanandaj – A group of contract workers from the Town Hall in Sanandaj’s 2nd District on Saturday held a rally in the municipality office demanding their overdue wages from the previous month.


 


In Dehgalan, western Iran – A group of workers on Saturday protested outside the town’s employment office over non-receipt of their health insurance and monthly salary.


 


In Kermanshah, western Iran – A group of workers from the Zagros Sepehran Joshan bumper construction company in the Faraman industrial district on Saturday held a rally outside their workplace for failure to be paid their wages from the previous month and overtime salaries for three previous months.
