Swedish prominent personalities urge EU to delist PMOI

A number of Swedish political and judicial personalities asked the European Union to abide by the European Court of First Instance to remove the PMOI from the terrorist list.

In an article published in Swedish daily Svenska dag Bladet, Lenart Friden, former Swedish MP from Conservative Party, Gosta Gronroos, professor of Philosophy in Stockholm University, Henrik Järrel, former Swedish MP from Conservative Party, and Erik Wahlberg, jurist in the courts of Värmland province, asked the European Union and particularly Sweden to end the slanderous lawbreaking in keeping the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) in the terrorist list.

The article titled” Remove PMOI off the terrorist list” partly reads: “Latest investigations of what is called “terrorist list” has challenged the European Union’s credit. When the representatives of EU country members explicitly acknowledge that no rational evidences are necessary to designate a person or organization, this reality is confirmed that this designation is basically political. Based on remarks of Andreas Norman, Swedish Foreign Ministry’s Secretary in the Security Policy section, the Swedish government has not been convinced on keeping the PMOI in the European list and observance of all legal criteria in this ground. With such a viewpoint, the Swedish government abstained in the polling for keeping the PMOI in the aforementioned list. Only one negative vote could lead to a general review with regard to PMOI designation in the list.”

The Swedish personalities concluded in their article: “If the Swedish government feels least hesitance regarding reasons for maintaining the PMOI in terrorist list, it should put this issue again into effect and vote against continuation of designation”.
