Duma, the center of Eastern Ghutta near Damascus, is the scene of horrific massacres by the Assad regime, taking place time and time and again on this city, Al Jazeera TV reported on Thursday, September 3rd.
Duma has been known as the historic heartland of Syrian rebels, going back to the era of the French colonialism. This city was very successful in agricultural activities, yet the Assad regime has been targeting the city through chemical attacks after 2011. Vicious bombings by the Assad regime against this city has been indiscriminate while targeting Syrian rebels and civilian residents in the city. The crimes committed by Assad in this city has been registered by human rights organizations, yet met with complete and repulsive silence by the international silence, allowing Assad to repeat his crimes.
The international community has shamefully just condemned these crimes. This is a deep wound amongst the Syrian people and the locals of Duma which will remain unless these criminals are held accountable.
