The Association of Iraqi Kurdish Writers issued a declaration entitled “To Condemn the Wave of Political Prisoners Executions in Iran, NO to Execution” announcing:
The Iranian regime has recently intensified the wave of executions of political prisoners and each day they are sending numbers to the gallows under various pretexts. On December 28th, 2010, they executed 62 year old political prisoner Ali Saremi in Tehran’s Evin Prison. On January 15th, 2011, they executed a Kurdish political prisoner by the name of Hossein Khezri, 28, in Orumieh Prison (northwestern Iran). On January 24th, 2011, they executed two political prisoners by the names of Ja’far Kazemi and Mohammad Ali Haj Aghaii in Tehran’s Evin Prison. This possibility exists that in the coming days there will be even more executions. Condemning this wave of executions of prisoners in general and political prisoners in particular, the Association of Iraqi Kurdish Writers calls on all Kurdish writers and intellectuals to raise their voice against the Iranian regime’s inhumane crimes and become active wherever they are to condemn this regime. To respect the suffering people of this country, governments must condition their relations with the Iranian regime to stopping the wave of executions. Without a doubt, no regime in history has been able to remain in power with the use of gallows.
