Italian Parliament conference marks International Women’s Day, defends 1,000 heroic women in Ashraf and Liberty
In a conference held in the Italian Parliament and chaired by MP Elisabetta Zamparutti, MPs and prominent political dignitaries of this country discussed the conditions of women in Iran, the role of women in leadership in the Iranian Resistance and the courageous struggle of 1,000 heroic women in Ashraf and Liberty.
Emphasizing on the responsibility of the UN and US government to guarantee protection and rights of Ashraf residents, the speakers also condemned prison-making measures in Camp Liberty.
In this conference, Mr. Carlo Ciccioli, Vice-President of the Italian Parliament Social Services Committee and President of the Italian Committee of Parliamentarians and Citizens for Iran Freedom, along with many other political dignitaries, delivered speeches in support of Ashraf and Liberty residents.
At the beginning of the program, Elisabetta Zamparutti said, “We want to designate this day to the women of Iran, and especially the women of Ashraf. The Iranian Resistance views as important the role of women and has placed women in leadership posts in this movement. In my opinion, this is of tremendous importance in the struggle of this resistance against the religious and misogynistic regime ruling Iran. This is the greatest challenge that this fundamentalist regime has placed before the Iranian Resistance.”
Carlo Ciccioli stressed on the very important role of women in the Iranian Resistance and emphasized, “We express our support for the women of Iran, and especially the 1,000 Ashrafi women who have struggled for years to overthrow the dictatorship ruling Iran. We hail these 1,000 resisting women who through personal sacrifice are trying to free the men and women of their country. We will continue our efforts to accomplish these demands and to defend Ashraf residents’ rights in Ashraf and Liberty.”
