Russia is providing more aid to Syrian dictator Bashar Assad by stationing at least 7 T-90 main battle tanks in the Latakia airbase, informed sources reported on Tuesday. Russia’s objective in dispatching these armored units is to provide support for the Bashar Assad army that is suffering major blows these days from Syrian rebels.
Washington says Russia is intending to establish a combat base in Latakia. Previous reports showed the presence of at least 200 Russian naval troops in this base.
Assad has also intensified its airstrikes using barrel bombs on the war-stricken town of Zabadani and continuing its deadly killing of innocent civilians.
