More than 1,000 teachers gathered today, Wednesday in front of the mullahs’ parliament in Tehran to stage a rally in protest to unpaid salaries and wages for past few months. These teachers, having come from different cities in Iran, all have the same grievance which is back up salaries and wages. They all chanted “Don’t fear, we are all together.”
They also demanded freedom saying the suppressive agents of the government must stop harassing and intimidating teachers. They also called for the release of imprisoned teachers.
The first group of teachers who arrived at 1030 today as it was pre-organized, were teachers from Kermanshah, Central Iran. They numbered to about 1,000 individuals. The suppressive State Security forces, SSF, were trying to prevent the gathering from taking place, but despite the SSF attempt, the teachers braved the intimidations and stared their rally.
Reports indicate that hundreds of State and anti-riot forces were stationed around the Parliament to prevent the rally from taking shape. They threatened the teachers of arrestment and imprisonment.
Eyewitnesses say that a large number of these protesting teachers were women.
