Al-Seyassah (Kuwait), 4 Oct 2012 – For over 20 years to this day Iran’s mullahs have continuously stressed the role of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran has come to an end and they have no influence in Iran’s political stage. They have repeated this so many times in their local media along with Arab and international media outlets that many still uphold this supposition and take it as the truth.
This ‘significant’ emphasis naturally has general and specific timings. Specific timing is related to the political scene and regional and international developments and events that may have new parameters on the scene, especially the rising status of the PMOI in the regional and international stage. However, the general timing is related to this regime’s special agenda to brainwash the Iranian people and dictating the mullahs’ viewpoints and positions regarding many important and sensitive issues, with the opposition PMOI topping the list.
Pressing on the fact that the PMOI has reached its end in the specific and general dimension, with recent emphasis made by numerous senior Iranian regime officials following the ruling to remove the PMOI from the US terrorist list, lost its importance because from September 29th (the date of the ruling), a group of Iranian officials are making remarks against this decision everyday, and like always, they stress that the PMOI has no role or importance. One can analyze this unprecedented wave of harsh and incited stances against this US decision, and first of all against the PMOI, from various perspectives with the most important being the following:
-The US State Department decision on delisting the PMOI followed the UK and EU decisions regarding the same subject. This means there is similarities in opinions and positions between Europe and the US regarding the PMOI, and this itself is a very important development in the Iran dossier.
-This is not an ordinary decision, in fact it is a very special decision that can be calculated as significant and harsh. Definitely this decision will not remain just in delisting the name of this organization, in fact it will expand and clearly prepare the grounds for the political recognition of this organization by the West and provide international credibility. Especially since this organization, in contrast to what the Iranian regime has rumored, has proven its capability in adapting with the international community and before that, proven its nature of good will, humane values and civil behavior. This in itself holds many meanings and definitions.
-This decision is made at a time when all alternatives to resolve the current problem in Iran have failed because the project of legitimizing the Iranian regime and normalizing relations with it has failed, just like the failure of the reform movement project and the “Green Movement” fever ended in vain. Therefore, this ruling at this time specifically means that the international community has finally been convinced by the third option project presented by Iranian resistance leader Mrs. Maryam Rajavi and is implementing it and taken steps to remove the name of the PMOI from the terrorist list. This means the final nail in the coffin to the “political ceasefire” agreement between the West and Iran, and taking up another path towards the Iran dossier.
Considering what we said, the increase in using this method by Iran officials, including the remarks they make, emphasizes on the possible serious concerns that generally does not have a good message for this regime. Worst of all, this is all coinciding with the unprecedented dive of Iran’s rial to an amount that Ahmadinejad has been forced to personally admit that it is related to the international punishments imposed on his regime, and disastrous downfall of Iran’s economy is not unlikely. The entrance of the PMOI to Iran’s political stage in this sensitive timing is an issue taken very seriously by the Iranian regime and it is warning vigorously on this subject, because it knows when this organization enters the game it will not rest until it brings it to an end. And definitely Iran’s mullahs understand it very well that a strong political storm raging against them after the removal of the PMOI from the terrorist list is a storm that will not rest unless it blows their turbans off!
