
Workers rally outside complex construction site in Mottahari Avenue
Workers of the Gol Maryam construction project in Tehran’s Mottahari Avenue and Police Street staged a strike and protested not receiving their paychecks for the past 4 months and the entire project being 50% shutdown.
Around 150 workers of this project consider state police, in charge of this project, as the element behind the delays in their paychecks.
Strikes, rallies held by storeowners in Golestan complex in western Tehran
Storeowners of the Golestan complex located in western Tehran launched a strike and protested in the morning hours of Wednesday, February 17th after a 10% hike in all mortgage rates for their stores starting in March. This rally was held in the floor level hall in this complex.
The strike continued until 12 pm and storeowners refused to open their shops.
Furniture storeowners on strike in Tehran’s Yaft Abad district
Owners of five furniture stores in Tehran’s Yaft Abad district went on strike on Wednesday, February 17th due to their continuing problems. The protesting furniture stores and manufacturing companies said this industry has major problems in having raw material imported into Iran. After many protest rallies and talks with senior customs and taxing officials, these storeowners have actually seen their taxes escalate.
