Macron calls for humanitarian truce in Syria’s eastern Ghouta

PARIS (Reuters) February 21, 2018 – – French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday called for a humanitarian truce in Syria’s eastern Ghouta to allow for the evacuation of civilians, after pro-government forces pounded the rebel-held district outside the Syrian capital Damascus.
“France clearly, vigorously, condemns what is taking place in eastern Ghouta,” Macron said during a press briefing with Liberia’s George Weah in Paris.
