White House may create Iran ’czar’ to finish talks

The White House could appoint a new “czar” to serve as the point person for negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program as a deadline nears, according to a report according to The Hill, June 17, 2015.
An administration official confirmed to Politico that they are looking at a number of options to manage the final weeks of negotiations between Iran and five world powers. Those options include creating a “czar,” to see the complicated talks through to completion.
“Given the many details and elements of any implementation plan, we have been doing some advance planning,” Marie Harf, a senior communications advisor at the State Department, told Politico.
“In that planning, we are looking at all aspects of implementation, including how the [U.S. government] would be organized. If we reach a deal, there are many models for the way forward and we are looking for what will work best.”
Officials with the U.S., Russia, China, Great Britain, France and Germany are engaged in negotiations ahead of the June 30 deadline. The countries announced a framework for the deal in April, which gave the nations more time to iron out details.
