Dr. Ahmed Shaheed, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran reacted to the mullahs’ claim of allowing the Special Rapporteurs’ visit to Iran by saying: “what is most important in these visits is the host country’s honesty in cooperating with the Rapporteurs. This cooperation can include unimpeded traveling and access by the UN officials to persons and places that they want to see, also the guarantees that the witnesses who cooperate with the UN Rapporteurs wouldn’t be punished or harassed. This visit must include all these guarantees.
