Call on U.S. and UN to remove the inhumane blockade of Liberty Camp
On Wednesday, September 17, Iraqi intelligence agents obstructed the transfer of one of the patients suffering from acute eye disease to the hospital. This stonewalling was justified by the ludicrous pretext that patients may go only to one hospital. These forces also refused to allow the nurse and interpreter for two other patients to accompany them that makes things extremely hard for the patients and makes their dialogue with hospital physician and staff quite difficult and next to impossible. On Thursday, September 18, Mr. Taghi Abbasian lost his life in the absence of medical services. He was the twenty-first PMOI member who lost his life to the medical siege.
In an anti-human policy that amounts to psychological torture, the Iraqi forces introduce delays in the departure of ambulances from Camp Liberty using various pretenses such that most of the time the patients are late getting to the hospital and miss some or all of their medical appointments and return to camp without achieving anything. As an example, on September 18, these agents forced the patients who were leaving Camp Liberty to change their interpreters and nurses three times before they were allowed to leave the camp. As a result, three patients who suffer from heart problems could not get to their appointments in time. Also a female patient could not complete her medical test due to the delay and thus all four patients returned to the camp without receiving medical care. Similarly on September 8, these same three heart patients missed their medical appointments and medical tests due to similar delays and hampering.
In yet another repressive act, on September 18, the intelligence agents set up a binocular with tripod on the roof of one of the buildings of the police battalion in the camp and carried out reconnaissance of various sections of the camp.
These measures and the criminal blockade against Camp Liberty residents are implemented under the supervision of the criminal Major Ahmed Khozair who receives his orders directly from Faleh Al-Fayad and the terrorist Quds Force. In the past years, Ahmed Khozair has played an active role in the massacre of residents and the imposition of the siege on and psychological torture of the residents.
Since two months back, following a trip to Baghdad by Ali Shamkhani, Secretary of clerical regime’s Supreme Security Council, and Qasem Soleimani, Commander of the terrorist Quds Force, and their meeting with the National Security Advisor of Government of Iraq Faleh Al-Fayad, this criminal blockade has been ramped up.
The Iranian Resistance issues warning regarding the above measures and given the commitment of the U.S. government and the United Nations concerning the safety and security of Camp Liberty residents, calls for immediate intervention for terminating this criminal siege, for residents to gain free access to medical services, and for the removal of these criminal agents from Camp Liberty.
