Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the Iraqi National Front Dr. Saleh Mutlak said Ashraf residents should not be transferred to Camp Liberty by force.
“The People’s Mojahedin in Ashraf must not be transferred to Camp Liberty by force because they have presented many martyrs and deserve our full respect,” Dr. Mutlak said. “I call on all people involved in this regard to respect human rights principles. I condemn pressures being imposed against them to force them to forgo their rights. We are in the holy month of Ramadhan and it should be in the credibility of Iraq and Iraqis to practice a humanitarian approach towards our PMOI brothers and sisters living in Iraq.”
Dr. Saleh Mutlak added, “I call on the UN to halt their transfer until the fundamentals of decent conditions are provided for in Liberty. Furthermore, I call on the government to evade from measures that impact Iraq’s credibility and PMOI’s lives in Camp Ashraf because harming any of them is equal to harming humanity and harming Iraq’s credibility, and I hope that this dossier is resolved with the necessary considerations and respect for human rights and international laws.”
Saleh Mutlak reminded, “It is not in the interest of anyone to have the tragic events that took place in 2011 and led to the blood of the innocent being spilled and many martyrs among the PMOI members in Camp Ashraf to be repeated because it will impact Iraq’s credibility and it was an experience that no Iraqi patriot wants repeated. Definitely evil intentions were behind those events.”
Dr. Saleh Mutlak said, “Deliberately depriving PMOI members in Camp Liberty and Ashraf of water and electricity is unacceptable. Especially since we are in very harsh climate conditions and the very high temperatures have led us even to close down government offices.”
Saleh Mutlak added, “Iraq is a wealthy country, it is the country of humanity and it has inherited many values. It is the duty of all those involved in Camp Liberty to provide all humanitarian services, and the United Nations must supervise over the resolving of services and basic needs being provided for the PMOI refugees in Camp Liberty in order for them to live in dignity.”
