Al Rafedein TV, 18 Sep 2013 – Footage taken with mobile phones reveal the oil smuggling from Iraq to Iran. The Firuzkhan pathway in Diyala Province is located near the town of Khaneqein facing the Iranian town of Ghasr-e Shirin. It is said that this pathway is especially used for trucks smuggling Iraqi oil.
The tankers go to the unofficial Firuzkhan pathway… there are many wells in this region where the truck load their oil… their path leads to the town of Sanghar inside Iran and then to the city of Hamedan… the drivers are given green papers which are used as visas to return back to Iraq. This letter of approval is not stamped by Iraq, showing the unofficial status of the whole issue.
If there is any suspicion that the activities of the companies are being revealed, the documents related to the activities of the companies and their owners, and also those who support them, are all burned. This takes place in the Iraqi Ministry of Transportation, Trade, Oil and Finance.
