Demonstrators clashed with security forces in Saturday’s demonstrations in Beirut, Al Arabiya TV reported on Sunday, August 23rd. This rally led to an unlimited sit-in.
The demonstrators are demanding a fundamental solution to resolve the problems of services and the trash crisis that has continued in Beirut for over a month now.
Lebanon Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt, MP, has held responsible those political forces attempting to literally shut down all activities in Lebanon for pushing the situation on the ground into today’s explosive state.
He condemned the attack on Lebanese demonstrators and said the Lebanese people have the right to protest and hold demonstrations.
