A senior Iraqi Kurdish official of the Kurdistan Democratic Party revealed the US government has sent an urgent message to Maliki warning him of any measures that would delay the upcoming elections or block it on the appointed date of April 30th, al-Tagheer TV reported citing Kuwait’s al-Seyassah daily.
A member of Maliki’s inner circle emphasized there has been an agreement between the country’s main political forces on setting Maliki aside, this daily added. If Maliki intends to disrupt the elections, these Iraqi political currents have agreed to call on Washington to take action in the United Nations Security Council to give a serious message to Maliki.
“It is very probable that Maliki may have a plan under which Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and Lebanese Hezbollah will support him in adventurous measures against the elections,” this Kurdish leader.
