Iraqi Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi said he has information indicating sectarian militants, supported by security apparatuses, have a devious plan to distance Iraq’s Sunni community from the elections at the end of this month by targeting them in their attacks.
Nujaifi added Baghdad’s social map has changed dramatically after many Sunnis have been displaced and forced out of their homes, and this has literally led to an identity change for the capital. Nujaifi invited the Sunnis to participate in the upcoming elections with the goal of protecting their identity, dignity, existence and bring about change in Iraq’s society.
