According to Asharqiya TV on December 22, 2008, by releasing a statement, the US Army announced that the joint Iraqi-US forces arrested 4 members of special groups affiliated to the Iranian regime during a security operation in southern Baghdad.

The statement said that the joint patrol of the Multi National Force and Iraqi Police carried out this operation in Rashid district of Baghdad. The arrested persons are accused of murder and attack with IEDs.
