Iran incarcerates 600,000 people annually

In a startling revelation, an official in the Iran’s judiciary admitted that in excess to 600,000 people are arrested and incarcerated annually in Iran.
“Among the various punishments handed down, one of the main punishments is imprisonment,” Mozafar Alvandi, an advisor to the regime’s Justice Minister, said.

“Each year some 600,000 people enter prison,” Alvandi said, adding that the new prisoners are thereafter removed from Iran’s economic cycle.
His remarks were published by the state-run daily Arman on Wednesday.
Alvandi added that on average Iranian prisons are operating at twice their official capacity.
Last week the Iranian regime’s Deputy Minister of Education admitted that more 1,000 teachers are currently imprisoned in Iran.
