
Senior Revolutionary Guards and police commanders have launched drastic measures on the verge of Friday’s twin elections by deploying thousands of forces into the streets.
Police chief Hossein Ashtari said 250,000 members of the security will be monitoring the polls on Friday.
Deputy police chief Iskanadr Momeni said 26 helicopters and 8 light airplanes will be used to control various regions.
Senior police official Ghasem Rezaie reported borders are controlled by special border guards.
Another senior police official by the name of Hassan Karami claimed the regime’s security forces have been planning since March 2015 on how to confront any security threats during these elections.
“For months we have been taking action on how to increase our combat readiness and operational status in this regard, providing the necessary training to police units across the country,” he said.
