In a clear sign of panic from the repeat of the 2009 popular uprisings in Iran, Parliament member Elias Naderan, told Iran state run television in an interview that “we see a new wave of unrest in recent weeks which is so similar to the 2009 ’sedation’ [a term only used by the regime officials to refer to the 2009 uprisings]. This sedation can grow at anytime and anywhere. The 2009 ’sedation’ discredited us on the international scene and put us in a weak position in the nuclear talks. The 2009 sedation destroyed the strong image of our armed forces, and if this image is destroyed, then nothing can help us and we would be left with nothing.”
