August 17, 2008 -The freedom loving Iranians and the supporters of Iranian resistance in Washington DC, along with the families and relatives of the Ashraf residents, staged a demonstration outside the ICRC headquarters to protest the conspiracies of the mullahs’ against the Ashraf residents and violation of their rights as protected persons under the Fourth Geneva Convention.

The demonstrators condemned the missile attacks and the increasing conspiracies of the mullahs’ regime against the city of Ashraf, and warned against a human disaster for the PMOI in Ashraf city.

Underscoring the responsibility of international organizations and the MNF-I, particularly the U.S. government, the demonstrators asked for continuation and reinforcements of guaranteed protection and security of the Ashraf city.

The Iranians asked the international organizations, especially the ICRC, to guarantee the protection of Ashraf and reiterated: “We shall stand by Ashraf to the end and will not allow the mullahs’ regime to inflict any harm on PMOI.”

During the demonstration, one of the ICRC officials in Washington attended the gathering and talked with the families of the Ashraf residents. The PMOI families and relatives reminded him the necessity of providing and guaranteeing protection of the Ashraf residents according to the non-refoulement principle and underscored the legal rights of the brave children of the Iranian people in Ashraf.
