Diyala Province Council condemn Ashraf water pumping station explosion

In an interview with INTV Arabic Language, Ibrahim Bajelan, head of Iraqi Diyala Province Council, condemned the terrorist explosion of the Ashraf City water pumping station and 20,000 residents of this province, and stressed that the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran ( PMOI) enjoys international laws and based on the international laws their rights must be recognized.

He said: We, as the Diyala Province Council, condemn these terrorist acts, no matter who has done it. This station is a vital field region. The Udhaim citizenry have problem of shortage of water pumping stations. This PMOI’s station is an important possibility for the villagers in this area who suffer many problems. All these problems urge us to condemn this act.

Regarding the follow up of this terrorist measure, Mr. Bajelan said: When we received the news of the explosion, delivered an official letter to Diyala Operation Command to investigate along with Diyala Water Office about that explosion.

Mr. Bajelan stressed: It is well clear for us that the PMOI, due to UN treaties, is under support of the Multi National Forces in Iraq (MNFI). We, as Diyala Province Council, respect to all UN laws and will stay in that course. I had received previously letters from the UN which were propounded in the Province Council; we responded to the UN that we respect all laws released by the UN and particularly the refugee problem in the PMOI case. I have spoken with United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI); they told us while sending several letters for us which indicated that the PMOI are under the MNFI protection and their rights must be fulfilled.
