Iraqi politicians warn against another attack on Ashraf: Jordanian daily

Fares Sanjari, MP from Iraqiya Coalition said the UN has legal and moral obligations toward camp Ashraf residents’ well-being. Ashraf residents in Iraq are refugees under the Fourth Geneva Convention and they are the Iraqi people’s guests, Sanjari added, saying it is our duty to protect them prior to the UN.
“The UN must take responsibility to protect Ashraf because they are morally and legally obliged to do so,” this Iraqiya MP continued.
Also senior Iraqiya member Mash’an al-Saadi described as “inhumane” measures to expel Ashraf residents by the end of this year. He questioned Maliki’s prestige about the implication of human rights’ concepts in Iraq.
“The government of Iraq claims that they want to implement a new democracy in Iraq, but we haven’t seen the realization of these claims,” al-Saadi said. “The most important tenet of democracy is moral values. But we are observing that guests of Iraq are under daily torment and mischief without probable cause.”
