
Hossein Shariatmadari, one of Khamenei’s inner circle and his representative in the state-run Kayhan daily, wrote on the Geneva deal: “Article 77 of the constitution stipulates, ‘International agreements must be approved by the parliament’… Therefore, in the eyes of the Islamic republic the Geneva agreement lacks any legal basis and no executive legitimacy, and implementing the agreement without the parliament’s approval is a flagrant violation of national sovereignty.”
He called on Iran’s negotiating team to ament this agreement.
